Blyth residents invited to town showcase

Blyth residents are being invited to find out more about some of the great projects currently underway in the town.

The first Blyth Town Forum Showcase event is being held in a marquee in Blyth Marketplace on Saturday, September 28 from 10am to 3pm and will feature a range of displays from the council, its partners and businesses in the town.

Blyth Town Forum is a partnership between Northumberland County Council, Blyth Town Council, Advance Northumberland, Active Northumberland and other stakeholders in the town.

It aims to oversee how the town develops over the coming years and the forum want local people to be fully involved as plans develop.Among the presentations there will be information on the Energising Blyth investment strategy, the proposed relief road, the Northumberland Line and leisure centre investments.

There will also be displays from businesses in the town including ORE Catapult, along with stands from a range of town centre community projects.

Councillor Richard Wearmouth, Cabinet Member for Economic Development, said: “This is a very exciting time for Blyth as we work together through the Town Forum to develop our Energising Blyth investment strategy to revitalise the town centre, along with a number of other initiatives, and I hope as many people as possible are able to come along and join us.”

County Councillor and Blyth Town Councillor Kath Nisbet added: “I am proud to be working as a town and county councillor as a part of the Blyth Town Forum and to showcase some of the great new and existing projects in the town centre. I hope everyone finds the event extremely useful.”
